It has filed 48 cases of illegal modification and sale of electric bicycles without mandatory certification, and has imposed fines of 327900 yuan on unqualified electric vehicles and batteries, effectively curbing quality and safety hazards.

Electric bicycles have two major hidden dangers: fire and traffic accidents. In November this year, the State Council Information Office held a press conference. Since then, there have been over 10000 electric bicycle fires in China. Some electric vehicles have increased their speed without modification, and some can even run faster than motor vehicles. In addition, the lack of safety awareness among some users has made other vehicles tremble with fear. The National Quality Inspection Center for Light Electric Vehicles and Battery Products has analyzed that vehicle modification is the main cause of accidents, and batteries and chargers are important causes of accidents.
According to the National Standard, the speed of domestic electric vehicles shall not exceed 25 kilometers per hour and the battery voltage shall not exceed 48V. If the speed limit is too high and the battery is added during speeding, the speed will be faster and the range will be longer, but safety is not guaranteed. Some non mainstream electric vehicles have reserved space for modification operations when leaving the factory. In this regard, enterprises need to be self disciplined and regulatory authorities need to strengthen supervision. Reducing the safety hazards of electric vehicles requires joint efforts from regulatory authorities, enterprises, and users.
